Based at Maastricht University, our lab combines a passion for immunology with state-of-the-art microscopy. We focus on the phenotypic and functional heterogeneity of macrophages and other immune cells in cardiovascular diseases.

Embedded within the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM) and the MUMC+ Pathology Department, the Goossens lab bridges the gap between disease models and clinical reality by combining advanced tools such as:

Several internal, external and international collaborations allow us to expand the use of these research tools beyond atherosclerosis models and samples.
